Rescue Me ID: 14-03-29-00059Syriana (female)

Foxhound Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Hip Dysplasia

Max and Syriana are brother and sister. They are nine years old and have never been separated. They love to run around and play with toys. Both are huge cuddlers! Syriana is super sweet and incredibly smart! She displays more fox hound than Max. She is a fast runner and loves big open fields. She also loves treats! As Syriana has gotten older (within the last year), her hips are beginning to slow her down and she is sleeping more often. She is protective of Max and will sometimes bark unnecessarily if she thinks anyone or any dog is playing too rough with him. She is easily scared especially of unexpected strangers, loud noises ... (Read More)and thunderstorms. Both Max and Syriana have been our family dogs for the past nine years, unfortunately we are in a place where we can no longer take care of them. We have thought through ever option and was left with adoption. We are looking for folks who will not separate them, will play with them, take care of them and show them lots of love! (Less)

Max and Syriana are brother and sister. They are nine years old and have never been separated. They love to run around and play with toys. Both are huge cuddlers! Max is super playful and super friendly. He loves being around people and other dogs. He also loves stuffed animal toys. As Max has gotten older (within the last year), he sometimes gets startled a little more easily and is beginning to show a slight increase in level of aggression. He has not bit anyone or any dog but he will snap and growl every once in a while. Both Max and Syriana have been our family dogs for the past nine years, unfortunately we are in a place ...     Briley is just about the best little dog anyone could ask for. She is pure white with ginger markings. She is house trained/crate trained and never barks when in her crate. On top of that, she is a neat freak. She is the first dog I have ever seen that will walk around a mud puddle to avoid getting her feet wet. She walks well on a leash and loves stuffed animals and toys. I have quite a crew at my house. She is very playful when outside and can hold her own with the larger dogs yet she is very gentle and sweet with my little ones. With people, she is somewhat reserved but has a cute quirky personality. People that like a calmer dog would ... (Read More)really like Briley. I cannot say enough good things about this girl. I do require a fenced yard. No invisible fences, and a home visit is required. More photos and a video available upon request. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Foxhound in Texas
Foxhound Dogs can make good pets in Texas if they match your IifestyIe. The American Foxhound is a fierce pack hunter with a gentle and affectionate disposition when among people. Foxhounds are especially sociable with other dogs. This breed is a natural hunter and is not a good choice for a household with pets other than dogs. American Foxhounds are generally good with children. Some are very protective and others are friendly toward strangers. The American Foxhound can be somewhat difficult to housebreak, will follow interesting scents, and may take off after squirrels, etc. These dogs are best suited to a home with some acreage.

lnteresting Foxhound Trivia Low-Cost Texas Spay & Neuter Clinics
The American Foxhound is descended from English Foxhounds which came to America in the mid seventeenth century. The first American Foxhound was bred from an English Foxhound and a French hound given to George Washington by Lafayette. American Foxhounds were once used to track Native Americans. The American Foxhound has an unusual bay.
