Noel is a sweetheart of a dog with a sad past. Here's her story: Noel came to us from a West Virgina shelter. She was injured from what appears to be possibly getting caught up on a fence. Something pierced the skin on the inside of her left rear leg and created a pocket, as if she got caught on a picket fence. It separated the skin from the muscle and the skin was hanging loose with the tissue becoming necrotic, so she was like that for awhile before the humane officer found her several weeks ago. He went to a house on a call about an injured dog, found Noel, and told the owners that they had 24 hours to get her to a vet otherwise he would ... (Read More)take her and fine them. Before the day is up, another adult in the home, calls the pound to report an injured dog that's not theirs at the home. Officer returns and again finds Noel. They say for him to take her, that she's not theirs. He has no proof she is their dog as there are a lot of free-roaming dogs in the area. He talks to the shelter manager on the phone and she told him to just take the dog. She said the owner has many dogs and she felt if they take Noel and just pushed the vetting/fine issue that Noel would not get the care she needed. The shelter manager then called in rescue since the shelter couldn't afford to get her fixed up. Noel is all healed up now and has been vetted. She is in foster care with multiple dogs ranging in size from 12 lb to 65 lb and a dog-loving cat. She LOVES to play and bounce around with other dogs and toys. She would be best paired up with a dog that's 30 lb or larger. Although she doesn't seem to have a tendency to want to harm/kill our cat, our cat thinks she's a bit too excitable around him and he avoids her. So she'd probably be better off in a cat-free home. She's very sweet, not food or toy aggressive, and thoroughly housebroken and crate trained. Noel would LOVE to sleep in bed with you! One other thing, Noel likes to retrieve a ball! This is rare behavior for a hound as they tend to like to chase things but not bring them back. She has very pretty light brindle spots and her tail looks like it was smooshed onto her body as there's a circle of brindle/brown right where the tail joins the body. Her foster dad said she reminds him of a claymation character because of that! LOL She's not much of a barker except when things get overly exciting, like when she thinks someone's approaching the house. She's about 2 years old and weighs 38 lb but is still a little skinny. Please submit an app if you'd like to meet her. Noel is ready to go to her forever home today! (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Foxhound in Pennsylvania
Foxhound Dogs can make good pets in Pennsylvania if they match your IifestyIe. The American Foxhound is a fierce pack hunter with a gentle and affectionate disposition when among people. Foxhounds are especially sociable with other dogs. This breed is a natural hunter and is not a good choice for a household with pets other than dogs. American Foxhounds are generally good with children. Some are very protective and others are friendly toward strangers. The American Foxhound can be somewhat difficult to housebreak, will follow interesting scents, and may take off after squirrels, etc. These dogs are best suited to a home with some acreage.
